Wates Construction

Overview

In December 2022, Studio KT1 were approached by Wates to help them illustrate their pitch for the Kingfisher Leisure Centre redevelopment in Kingston. Wates were keen to work with a local artist with experience of living and studying in the area and turned to the university. Gabriel Liu, a recent BA Illustration Animation graduate took up the challenge and worked on seven original drawings in a very short timeframe of 4 weeks.

Gabriel produced each drawing from location visits and initial sketches, building up layers of detail and colour palettes in consultation with the clients along the way. The results were beautifully drawn snapshots of the potential development, weaving in themes and locations relevant to Kingston.
