Student Skills

Studio KT1 pulls in talent from across the faculties within Kingston University to collaborate together on briefs. We have fashion designers, psychologists, illustrators, filmmakers, graphic designers, interior designers, creative project managers, fine artists, architects, animators, photographers and everything in between.

This diversity opens up a vibrant environment full of ideas and experiences. We're proud that every member of our team has one common desire; to be better. The values represented in Studio KT1 projects are to be ambitious, to support one another and to take pride in our work and echo the university’s values

Working with a world class school

Kingston School of Art is consistently top of the league tables for design and fashion. Our students go on to work for prestigious brands and companies across the globe. Our Alumni include Fiona Banner, David Chipperfield, Caryn Franklin, Jasper Morrison, Helen Storey and many more.

Connecting with future talent

We are offering student talent under a commercial model for the first time. Learning by doing is our philosophy. This challenges students to reach their utmost potential and to achieve the best project outcome for our clients.

Access to new and fresh ideas

Stuck on how to connect with new audiences? Our students provide immediate insight into what the new generation are into.

Clue: It’s not Twitter

Brand promotion and awareness

Associating with a university gives you access to an instant talent pool - perhaps even your future employees. Make our students aware of your brand and then reap the rewards.

What's in it for the students?

Learning through making: experience with a real client

An interaction with a real-life client whilst still studying can give immediate tangible benefits. Confidence, employability and profile are all raised through the process. It’s invaluable.

Learning through collaboration:  multidisciplinary teams

Working with skillsets outside their course and discipline can create magic results. Why not replicate how it works in industry?

Earning while learning : bridging the gap between student and freelancer

All students working on projects via the Studio are paid an hourly rate unless the project is embedded in the curriculum. Then their work is marked as part of their learning outcomes - so there is no conflict of interest.

Enhancing portfolio before graduation

What’s better than graduating with a great portfolio of work?

Having real world examples of brands and projects you’ve worked with of course!
